Chiropractic Massage
Massage is the practice of soft tissue manipulation with physical and functional goals. Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet. There are over eighty different recognized massage modalities.
The most cited reasons for introducing massage as therapy is facilitation of the chiropractic adjustment. In other words, the massage therapist assists the chiropractor by preparing the body for adjustment. The doctor and therapist work together to achieve ideal treatment for their patients including a better adjustment that will not irritate the muscles since they are not as tight after myotherapy work. At Southwest Spine Center no matter what your health problem may be, we are specialized in treatment of various spinal disorders by using different massage therapies.
